A commercial building on W. Apache Trail near downtown Apache Junction was destroyed by fire on Wednesday night, March 28.

According to the Superstition Fire & Medical District (SFMD), both SFMD and the Mesa Fire Department were dispatched at 7:10 p.m. to Apache Trail near Phelps Dr.

When they arrived, firefighters found  a 4,000 sq. ft. commercial building with heavy fire involvement throughout the attic space. “The fire had burned through the roof, making the building unsafe for any interior fire attack,” said SFMD in a statement. “The fire was fought defensively, from the outside, by about 40 firefighters. The building is considered to be a total loss; however crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to an adjacent building and to other nearby structures. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.”
