SFMD Type 3 Engine Crew Assists with the Woodbury Burn Out Efforts

According to an update posted 9 a.m., Monday, June 24, the Woodbury Incident Command Post has moved from Peralta Trail Elementary School in Gold Canyon to Miami, AZ.

An update posted on the Forest Service Facebook page states, "Due to allocating the bulk of resources to the northwest, east and southeast sides of the fire, the Incident Command Post in Gold Canyon is in the process of relocating to Dr. Charles A. Bejarano Elementary School in Miami. The relocation will be completed by the evening of June 24, 2019. One of the two information phone numbers will be temporarily out of service during this transition: 480-288-6110."

The update further states that no structures have been lost to the fire, and no major injuries have been reported.

Burn out efforts (intentional low intensity fires used to remove fuel in the path of the wildfire) are being used to increase the control lines around residences, power line infrastructure and mining operations, as well as other "values."

A Type 3 engine crew from the Superstition Fire and Medical District (SFMD) has been deployed to the Woodbury fire effort, where they are participating in the burn out operations. The crew consists of: Captain Dustin Farber, Captain Jeremy Rocha, Engineer Mark Blackstone, and Firefighter Ryan Phillips.
